Celebrating Advent

It’s Advent! This season invites us to slow down, breathe, and make room in our hearts for the coming of Christ. We prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus at Christmas, keeping in mind that we also prepare for his return. Each week, we light the candles of hope, peace, joy, and love, reminding us that God is still breaking into our world with light and goodness.

As we move toward Christmas, I encourage you to find a few simple ways to practice Advent at home—maybe by lighting a candle, reading a short Scripture, or taking a moment for quiet prayer. We have Advent devotionals available at the church that are helpful and inspirational. Look for moments to offer kindness, generosity, and encouragement to those around you. These small acts help us live out the spirit of the season.

We hope you’ll join us for our special Advent services and events this month, including our Advent Bible Study beginning December 1 at 1:00 p.m. in the church parlor. We will experience Advent through the story of St. Francis of Assisi and the first live nativity. Our Christmas Eve candlelight service will be at 7:00 p.m. It’s a wonderful time to invite a friend or neighbor who might need a little hope.

May this season bring you peace and joy as we prepare for the birth of Jesus.

Grace and blessings,
Pastor Kate Biggs
