Growing Young This January

As we begin a new year, we are also beginning a new season of listening, learning, and growing together as a church. Starting in January, our worship life will be shaped by a sermon series called Growing Young, inspired by the book Growing Young: Six Essential Strategies to Help Young People Discover and Love Your Church.

This series is not about becoming a “younger church” or chasing trends. It is about becoming a healthier, more faithful church—one where people of all ages can grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and with one another. Growing Young reminds us that when churches take faith seriously, practice genuine love, and empower all generations, young people often respond—not because they are targeted, but because they are welcomed, trusted, and valued.

Throughout January and into the following weeks, we will explore what it means to:

  • Trust and empower young people with meaningful leadership
  • Listen carefully to the lives and experiences of today’s youth
  • Take the message of Jesus seriously and live it faithfully
  • Cultivate a warm, welcoming, intergenerational community
  • Share faith intentionally across generations
  • Love our neighbors through acts of service, justice, and compassion

Each week, worship will include Scripture, hymns, and prayers that reflect these themes. This is intentional—because Growing Young is not about one age group, but about who we are becoming together as the body of Christ.

As we step into this new year, we invite you to come with open hearts and willing spirits. Pray with us. Worship with us. Listen for where God may be calling you to grow, serve, or lead in new ways. The same God who has been faithful to this church in the past is still at work among us—doing new things, forming new relationships, and calling us forward in hope.

We look forward to growing together in Christ in the weeks ahead.

Blessings for the New Year,

Pastor Kate
