As we step into the season of Lent, we are invited into a sacred journey — one that leads us slowly, intentionally, and prayerfully toward Easter morning.
Lent lasts forty days (not counting Sundays) and mirrors the forty days Jesus spent in the wilderness. It is a season marked by reflection, repentance, renewal, and preparation. While the world often rushes past quiet moments, Lent calls us to slow down and pay attention — to our hearts, to our habits, and to the voice of God.
Traditionally, Christians observe Lent through three primary practices:
- Prayer – Deepening our conversation and communion with God.
- Fasting – Letting go of something that distracts us, creating space for spiritual focus.
- Generosity – Turning outward in love and service to others.
These practices are not about earning God’s love. They are about making room to experience it more fully.
Lent reminds us that we are dependent on God’s grace. It teaches us honesty about our need for forgiveness and hope. It prepares us to walk with Jesus — not only to the celebration of resurrection, but also through the reality of the cross.
As a church family, may we embrace this season together. Whether you choose to give something up, take something on, join our Lenten Study, or simply spend a few extra quiet minutes each day in prayer, know that this is an opportunity for growth.
The good news of Easter shines brightest when we have walked thoughtfully through Lent. May this be a season that softens our hearts, strengthens our faith, and draws us closer to Christ.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Kate
